Why inverts?

You may be asking yourself that question.
They certainly aren't "normal pets", now are they?
Personally I like them because they are so alien in their appearance, communication, and movement. The way they hunt, kill and eat their prey is an added interesting benefit of keeping things with more than four legs and no spine. Not to mention the fact that they couldn't be easier to maintain.
My fascination with weird bugs and animals started at a fairly early age. Like most boys I probably tormented more insects than I appreciated. Maybe I'm paying some sort of restitution now, for all the bugs I killed as a kid. Who knows? What I do know, however, is that this is turning into more of an obsession than a hobby. I've even started to enjoy the surprised reactions that I get from most people when they find out that I own "bugs".
And I'm not even that bad. I know some people who have hundreds of tarantulas, not to mention whatever other strange animals they can fit into the little space they have left over. I don't think I'll ever get that bad... maybe.
